Oliver is a dog who feels he has been wrongfully imprisoned. Despite his awful surroundings, Oliver looks to his coping mechanism: singing and picturing everyone else in a very cartoon-ish light. He soon finds out that being inside Jackson State Kennel is much more rough than he had imagined.
Ryan Ferrier crafts a fun story. There is a lot of singing so this could easily be a television mini series. Oliver is a great character as he is forever optimistic. He has the head of a Boston Terrier and body of a man. That is actually the look of the characters. It totally works for this story and looks great. Daniel Bayliss captures the look of this book so well and each page is a pleasure to look at.
This would be a fun book to get started on. Especially since you know it is only four issues. Issue one gets the whole story going and lays out all of the characters and the overall architecture of the story inside the kennel. Well, maybe not everything as there are still much that needs to be answered within the next three issues.
