The Binge Watcher Review: Puerto Ricans In Paris (2015)

Puerto Ricans In Paris (2015)

Starring:
Luis Guzman, Edgar Garcia, Alice Taglioni, Rosario Dawson, Rosie Perez, Julie Ferrier, Lilou Fogli, Miriam Shor

Synopsis:
Two New York detectives work under cover in Paris to Catch a Thief who’s threatening to flood the fashion market with bootlegged handbags.

The Good:
Let’s start with the obvious and that is Luis Guzman, personally find him hilarious in any comedy which he is in. This movie is no different, however Edgar Garcia steels the show. Garcia is great at being the calming influence opposite of Guzman’s over the top Player.

The Bad:
The film itself never plays to the strengths of Luis Guzman, instead relying heavily on a script that never reaches the next level.

Final Thoughts:
Although there are funny moments in this movie, it never moves past “Straight To DVD” quality. Most of the issues are with creditability, Outside of Garcia’s character being the lovable family man, there really isn’t much as to believe in this film,. These two are not so great detectives and Luis Guzman is more a horny old man than Player, and seriously does anyone really believe he can land a woman like Rosario Dawson?

The Movie itself is good but not great, I wouldn’t recommend you run our to buy ever. But if you have run out of Netflix options and need a movie for a long weekend than this is it. So if your ok with watching a Horny old Puerto Rican hit on women from Paris than this is the movie for you.

The Binge Watcher Review: The Curse of Sleeping Beauty (2016)

The Curse of Sleeping Beauty (2016)

Starring:
Ethan Peck, India Eisley, Natalie Hall, Bruce Davison, James Adam Lim, Zack Ward, Scott Alan Smith

Synopsis:
A man inherits an ancestral mansion and an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. As he battles to keep demons in the house at bay, he tries to awaken the beautiful Briar Rose to rescue her from a terrifying netherworld.

The Good:
When this film reaches those moments which all horror films have, it hits. The film itself is shot with a dark filter which is great while in the Haunted Mansion and creates makes the creepy mannequins especially when they come to life.

The Bad:
The entire film is shot with the dark filter giving a dull feeling which seems to add to the already drawn out scenes of explanation.

Final Thoughts:
While fairy tales have been told in many forms over the years and recently we have seen the return of the Disney Films in live action form with the likes of Cinderella and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast. The Curse of Sleeping Beauty returns to the original Grimm Darkness. Unfortunately even though this movie falls in the horror genre and embraces that horror darkness it just doesn’t make up for how dull the movie actually is. The movie it’s self takes an unusually long amount of time to explain why everything is happening to the main character. While its nice to know why someone would continue to return to a haunted house, I feel like taking three quarters of the movie to explain is just ridiculous.

And then there was the ending, the film is left with a cliffhanger. It’s not even a horror film cliffhanger where you know the villain will return, nope its left on the “its a second movie of a trilogy” Cliffhanger. Leaving the ending of the movie with many unanswered questions.

While I usually find the good in most movies, and the production at the mansion was brilliant for such a low budget film. This movie was just horrible and in all took me two days to actually finish due to falling asleep the first time I watched it. My suggestion don’t see this film there are many more horror films on Netflix which you can watch which don’t miss the boat entirely.

The Binge Watcher Review: Avalanche Sharks (2014)

Avalanche Sharks (2014)

Starring:
Alexander Mendeluk, Kate Nauta, Benjamin Easterday, Eric Scott Woods, Kelle Cantwell, Richard Gleason, Gina Holden, Jack Cullison, Nicole Helen, Emily Addison

Synopsis:
Avalanche Sharks tells the story of a Bikini contest that turns into a horrifying affair when it is hit by a shark avalanche.

The Good:
This is definitely a straight to DVD B-movie, and its filled with  cheesy dialogue and a horrible premise. Oh and lets not forget the bikini babes in the snow.

The Bad:
What makes a good B-Movie also makes it bad, the horrible premise of Avalanche Sharks attacking skiers during spring break. Oh and why are there so many spring breakers which are between the ages of 26 and 28? And Finally horrible CGI.

Final Thoughts:
It wasn’t the worse movie I’ve watched doing these B-Movie reviews, but it is up there with the worse of them. This is definitely a movie you watch due to it being so bad. If there is anything you can enjoy its hot women in bikinis.

The Concept of Snow sharks is just stupid, and the horrible effects make it that much worse. My suggestion for movies like these, create and actual prop instead of using CGI all the time. It will go a lot further than the “magical snow sharks” which appear out of now where but some how never really cause much harm to the main characters.

My suggestions is to watch this movie when drunk, anything else and you will be trying to change the channel. I almost did multiple times. Another nomination of Bad Movie Night and you can stream it on Netflix.

The Binge Watcher Review: Little Dead Rotting Hood (2016)

Little Dead Rotting Hood

Starring:
Eric Balfour, Bianca A. Santos, Romeo Miller, Patrick Muldoon, Heather Tom, Ashley Doris, Izabella Alvarez, Taylor Carr, Amy Argyle, Marina Sirtis, Brendan Wayne

Synopsis:
The Residents of a Small town discover that something more sinister than killer wolves is lurking in the backwoods; first the wolves start turning up dead….Then People.

The Good:
Actually Decent B Movie, the acting was good and the story flowed without issue. Was it cheesy, yes but what type of horror movie isn’t. And of course you had the hot 20 year old female lead.

The Bad:
Like so many B movies, this one lacked in the special effects department. The animated werwolf at the end of the movie really stood out as being computer generated.

Final Thoughts:
As far as B-Movies are concerned this was much better than what could have been expected. I love this type of movie, its fun to watch and would be very enjoyable in groups.

This was very loosely based on Little Red Riding hood, and the theme of this movie was werwolves and hot coeds, what more could you ask for in a movie? Stream it on Netflix at your next bad movie night, and enjoy it for what it really is met for. FUN!

The Binge Watcher Review: Bachelor Night (2014)

Bachelor Night (2014)
Staring: Andrew Bongiorno, Skyler Yeast, Phillip Andre Botello, Heather Paige Cohn,
Samantha Stewart, Melissa Mensah, Anna Beletzki

Synopsis:
When a bachelor party and a bachelorette party cross paths in Vegas, only the best man and the maid of honor can save their friends from a night of epic “mistakes.”

The Good:
If you’re looking for a movie that is basically nothing but tit’s and ass this is it.

The Bad:
Almost all of it is bad, I am not sure what they are trying to get out of this movie other than a late skin flick. The is suppose to be a comedy but there wasn’t much to laugh at if anything at all.

Final Thoughts:
This is movie really highlights all the reasons why straight to DVD Comedies get a bad reputation. This movie is a cheap rip off of films like Hangover and American Pie, but with a horrible script.

There is a reason this is considered a late night comedy, if you like tons of nudity and no real plot this is the movie for you.

The Binge Watcher Review: Bounty Killer (2013)

Bounty Killer (2013)
Staring: Kristanna Loken, Matthew Mardsen, Christian Pitre

Synopsis:
Bounty killers compete for body count, fame, and a fat stack of cash. They’re ending the plague of corporate greed and providing the survivors of the apocalypse with retribution. This is the age of the Bounty Killer.

The Good:
If you like your bounty hunter sexy and in a short skirt and your movie with tons of violence this is the film for you. This movie really delivers the with the exaggerated violence.

The Bad:
Not sure if the film had a bad script or just horrible delivery of the dialogue but it makes this futuristic apocalyptic movie a little hard to follow. It seems the film focuses more on the scenery and the action sequences than the dialogue allowing us to deal with a lot of cheesy delivery of the lines.

Final Thoughts:
If your looking for a cheesy B-rated alternative to Mad Max this is the movie for you. Don’t expect a lot from story, but visually this movie delivers. Will I watch this movie again? No it was a one and done movie and considering Pabst Blue Ribbon is considered a rare delicacy in this post apocalyptic film, that is what you should drink while watching this movie during your bad movie night.

I give this movie One Thumbs Up only because visually this film was fun to watch. Let us know your thoughts and leave a comment below.

The Binge Watcher Review: Atlantic Rim (2013)

Atlantic Rim (2013)
Staring: David Chokachi, Graham Greene, Anthony ‘Treach’ Criss, Jackie Moore

Synopsis:
When giant Monsters crawl out of the Atlantic Ocean and attack the Eastern Seaboard the US Government is forced to trust a trio of mischievous soldiers, specialized in piloting gigantic robots, to defend America.

The Good:
Due to the low budget film you know what your getting. A Cheesy sci-fi action movie with questionable CGI. The most recognizable actors from the film are David Chokachi (Baywatch) and Graham Greene (Die Hard with a Vengeance), at the very least it gives the film the chance to have some actors to sell the story. The script isn’t horrible which allows the film to move with out the backyard film effect.

The Bad:
Well like most B Movies, the CGI is definitely questionable. I feel like I am watching a Playstation One Video game at best, and while the script is cheesy at best there is a reason this was a straight to video movie.

Final Thoughts:
Atlantic Rim is from the same production company that brings you some of the more popular B Movies such as Sharknado and the Three Headed Shark Attack. So it brings some credibility as far as B Movies go. Atlantic Rim definitely works as “Its so Bad Its good” type of film. Thanks to Hulu you can watch this movie any time you like. My suggestion start a weekly Bad Movie night with some friends and make sure you have some beer. Just don’t waste the good stuff on this film, make it a Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I give Atlantic Rim One Thumbs up, cause its just that bad its funny. Check out the film and let us know your thoughts below.
