The Binge Watcher Review: Gridlock (2015)

Gridlock (2015)
Starring: Dominic Purcell, Cody Hackman, Stephen Lang, Trish Stratus, Danny Glover, Vinnie Jones, Steve Byers, James A. Woods

Synopsis:
Former SWAT Leader David Hendrix (Dominic Purcell) and hard-partying movie star Brody Walker (Cody Hackman) must cut their ride-along short when a police training facility is attacked by a team of mercenaries.

The Good:
Action packed movie which falls into the category of “Movies for guys who love Movies” Dominic Purcell proves that he can hold his own as the star of an action movie.

The Bad:
Not much dialogue to go with the movie, it definitely is a straight to DVD movie, and a Saturday movie at home.

Final Thoughts:
This film is straight action, there are no other ways to describe it. If you’re fans of Prison Break, The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow, you will love seeing Dominic Purcell’s in this movie……Straight Bad Ass. What makes an action movie though is the villain, Solid action movies need an actor that can make you believe in the evil of the character, Stephen Lang definitely fills those shoes. And for those die hard Wrestling fans Gridlock also stars WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus.

Gridlock is currently streaming on Netflix, for you’re next movie night or boring Saturday afternoon at home make this movie a Priority. Let us know your thoughts of the movie and leave your comments below.

The Binge Watcher Review: Galavant Season One

Galavant (Season One)
Starring: Joshua Sasse, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Luke Youngblood

Synopsis:
The adventures of Galavant, a dashing hero who is determined to reclaim his reputation and his “Happily Ever After” by going after the evil King Richard, who ruined it the moment he stole the love of Galavant’s life, Madalena.

The Good:
The Acting, The Singing, The Writing, Everything about this show is excellent from Timothy Omundson to Joshua Sasse. Each Actor is on point, and even though its not needed there are some great guest appearances by actors such as John Stamos, Weird Al Yankovic, and Ricky Gervais

The Bad:
This might be the only time I do this but I find nothing wrong with this show.

Final Thoughts:
This is Disney for Adults in the best way possible. The songs are cheesy enough to be great and the show reminds me a lot of Monty Python and Holy Grail. The show in itself does not take itself seriously as seen with the last episode of the season while during the final song it makes fun of its self with a dig that all the singing possibly killing the nelson ratings.

King Richard is played by the great Timothy Omundson, if you have seen psych you will understand why he is so great. His Henchman/Best friend is the Vinnie Jones, this role is definitely outside his normal role of bad ass bad guy which I believe make his appearance in the show that much better. But the star of the show is Joshua Sasse who plays the lead character of Galavant.

Some of the moment that really sell this show is every time Galavant misses the opportunity to be the hero in order to proclaim his intentions of saving the day. Just Awesome. Than if that want enough there is the drunk song between King Richard and Galavant that really brings the show home for me.

If it wasn’t obvious with the review I definitely give this show Two Thumbs Up and if you have watched yet, check out Hulu for Season One while its still up. Let us know what your thoughts of the show and leave a comment below.

The Binge Watcher Review: Awaken (2015)

Awaken (2015)
Staring: Natalie Burns, Daryl Hannah, Edward Furlong, Vinnie Jones

Synopsis:
A random group of people wake up on an island where they are being hunted down in a sinister plot to harvest their organs.

The Good:
Decent story paired with good actors give us a very watchable movie. This film was obviously shot well with a decent enough budget to give us a high end straight to DVD film. Given the many roles of Natalie Burns in this film, she did a decent job with the main role and has enough talent to be the main action hero for the flick. Lets not forget we also get the amazing Vinnie Jones, and he does an amazing job of just being Vinnie Jones. And if you need any more clarification on his talent just check him out in the TV Show “Galavant”

The Bad:
Through out the film we are treated to moments of weak dialogue and some choppy edits. It definitely is a reminder we are watching a straight to DVD Movie.

Final Thoughts:
This movie defiantly falls into the category of “A Action Movie for Guys that like Movies” and in many ways enforces the idea that little to no CGI is the way to go for upcoming movie makers. I started to watch this film expecting cheesy acting and horrible graphics, just hoping that the best I would get was a movie which was so bad it was good. By the end I found myself enjoying the film.

In the end a movie about a sinister plot to harvest organs for black market procedures is good enough for a view, especially on Hulu. But this movie doesn’t have much re-watchability to it. Enjoy it on a Lazy Saturday Morning.

I give this movie One Thumbs Up. Watch the movie and let us know your thoughts below.
