Shadow Moon(Ricky Whittle) is in prison but he is about to be let early on good behavior. Upon release, Shadow finds out bad news about his wife Laura(Emily Browing). Shadow makes his way home and on the way meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday(Ian McShane).
So that is a really quick rundown of the beginning of the episode. I'm going to do my best not to spoil too much. One thing I will say, fans of the novel by Neil Gaiman should be quite happy with how the first episode came out. The way many of the characters look, are right in line with how I envisioned them. Bilquis, Mad Sweeney and even Shadow himself. Ian McShane makes an even better Mr. Wednesday than I had thought up in my head.
The visuals for American Gods were tremendous. There is plenty of brutal and bloody action along with dream sequences that look absolutely incredible. This is the introduction to many characters and I love that there wasn't too much given away. It also includes the "Somewhere in America" mini-chapter just like in the novel(and comic book for that matter). I am beyond impressed by American Gods.
The next episode of American Gods can be seen Sunday, May 7th, 2017 on STARZ.
