Supergirl Review: Season 2 Episode 6 "Changing"

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 6
“Changing”

Starring:
Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, Floriana Lima, Chris Wood, David Harewood, Brenda Strong, Sharon Leal, William Mapother, Nikohl Boosheri

Synopsis:
The Guardian arrives to lend a hand when an Alien parasite drains Supergirl of her Power. Mon-El contemplates his motives when he considers a new Career. Alex faces a new reality.

Final Thoughts:
The episode see an Alien parasite take over a human body and start to attack civilians. Both J’onn J’onzz and supergirl go to the stop the alien when both of their powers are taken from them. While Supergirl was able to recover before the end of the episode Martian Manhunter was not so lucky and needed the help of M’gann M’orzz.

A lot of this episode centered on the growth of Mon-El and Alex Danvers character. While one was searching for his place on this new planet and whether he wants to be a hero or not. The other, Alex, was learning more about her self and who she is becoming.

This was an interesting episode, I am loving what they are doing with both Alex and Mon-El, however I am still not sure about James Olsen, which we saw become the Guardian. While growth development was great for most of the characters, it is becoming more and more apparent that the shows creators have no clue as to how to save James Olsen. I guess that is what the rest of the season is for, but if we don’t get any more invested in this character it might be time to send him back to Metropolis and the Daily Planet.

Supergirl Review: Season 2 Episode 5 "Crossfire"

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 5
“Crossfire”

Starring:
Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, Floriana Lima, Chris Wood, David Harewood, Brenda Strong, Katie McGrath, Alexander Cendese, Andrea Brooks

Synopsis:
Supergirl must beat a ruthless new gang who has been armed with dangerous new alien technology. When Cadmus sends a video to the DEO, the team realizes Cadmus is the one staffing the criminals for a secret mission. Meanwhile, Kara gets Mon-El a job as an intern at CatCo, James makes an important decision and Lena invites Kara to attend one of her fundraisers.

Final Thoughts:
Cadmus takes center stage in episode 5 of Supergirl by handing out alien weapons to humans and having them robbing banks. This takes everyone from Supergirl to Wynn and Lena Luthor in order to stop the robbers. The most interesting twist to come from this episode has to be the reveal that head of Cadmus is non other than Lena’s mother. This makes sense and provide an opportunity down the road to turn Lena toward her brothers evil side.

Mon-El finally joining the real world was the second part of this episode. It’s an entertaining story line being told here. Obviously he is brining some of his own traits from his home world to National city. Nice light hearted moments for the show. We also get to see the growing relationship of Alex and Maggie, it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

Now to the big turn, James Olsen wanting to become a hero. During the episode we see James get involved over and over again. Being a man with now powers leave him vulnerable, and in harms way. By the end of the episode he is able to get wynn to agree to help build him a suit. So now we are finally going to get the guardian. I am not sure how I feel about this, James has been an interesting character on the show. For the better part of season 1 he was more or less disliked by the fans, and for the better part of the first 4 episodes from season 2 just MIA.  So will this help get people behind the character more? Im not sure, I still haven’t enjoyed him and I am not seeing that change any time soon.

Supergirl Review: Season 2 Episode 2 "The Last Children of Krypton"

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 2
“The Last Children of Krypton”

Starring:
Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, Chris Wood, David Harewood, Tyler Hoechlin, Calista Flockhart, Brenda Strong, Frederick Schmidt, Ian Gomez, Rich Ting,

Synopsis:
Supergirl is hurt by a kryptonite-powered villain sent by Cadmus to attack National City. Superman blames Hank since the kryptonite was stolen from the DEO. In th meantime, Kara’s first day at her new job doesn’t go as planned when she meets her new boss Snapper Car.

Final Thoughts:
The main theme of episode 2 was change, Kara starting her new job, which doesn’t go as planned, Cat Grant officially announcing she is taking a leave of absence from CatCo, and Superman planning on heading back to the Metropolis. The show is going through a lot of changes and now that we know that Calista Flockhart is officiation down graded to a reoccurring guest star, it looks like the show may be loosing that calming influence she brought. On top of that we find ourselves stuck with James Olsen running CatCo. Obviously, this move makes sense since their really no longer seems to be a real reason for James to be on the show, especially with Winn moving to the DEO. The one wild card in this will be Ian Gomez and what he brings to the role of Snapper Car, Kara’s new boss.

Also, we learned that this season will focus on Cadmus, a group with some ties to the military which not only experiments on Alien, but also had Jeremiah Danvers. Due to a trader within the DEO, Candmus was able to get kryptonite. One of Candmus’s Dr. used the stolen kryptonite to create two cyborgs.

I am really enjoying this story, especially when J’onn J’onzz and superman finally found common ground which resulted in finally seeing a live action team up between the Martian Manhunter and Superman. With the DEO story playing a major role this reason, I am really getting behind the show this season and I’m looking forward to some resolution to the Jeremiah Danvers story and finally learning more about the mysteries man found in the alien pod.
