"Sinestro's Law Part 5: Joining Forces"

Hal Jordan has been healed by Soarnik, Guy Gardner is captured and being tortured and John Stewart and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps are on the search for the Yellow Lanterns on War World.

This book is so much fun as there are multiple story lines that all connect.  Every page is full of interest as all of it is compelling.  Hal Jordan talking with Soranik and explaining the origin of his new ring made by himself through Hal's own will is fantastic.  Guy Gardner not giving in to torture shows he is one of the toughest(or is he really that hard headed?) individuals in the DC Universe.  John Stewart and Kilowog travelling with the rest of the Green Lanterns in an effort to take on the Yellow Lanterns is enough to leave you breathless by the end.  Robert Venditti is amazing at crafting stories and the "Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps" series proves that point.

Ethan Van Sciver is such an incredible artist and I'm glad he is working on this title.  I also like that DC is keeping a steady artist on the title so I get the same look to each book.  The details in the faces are wonderful, especially with Sinestro.  This, coupled with the colors from Jason Wright, make for one of the best looking comic series going.  The colors coming off the rings look absolutely remarkable.

"Sinestro's Law Part 4: The Fear Engine"

Sinestro contines to fuel his Fear Engine as he awaits the arrival of Sinestro Corps' latest prisoner: Hal Jordan.  Sinestro is in for a surprise as there is a captured Green Lantern but not who he thinks.  Hal Jordan was redirected and taken by someone else while on planet Moga, John Stewart must make a decision as to what he should do next.

I am extremely glad I started reading this series.  Robert Venditti is crafting an other-worldly story happening across the universe with some of the most incredible heroes and villains in the DC Universe.  Hal Jordan bringing the Green Lantern Corps together and Sinestro coming back into power and looking to bring his version of order to the universe.  We are only 4 issues in(5 including the Rebirth Issue) and it feels like the best is yet to come.  This is also a comic book to read.  I Enjoy that there are lengthy conversations being had.  I feel like dialogue within comic books is a fading art.

Ethan Van Sciver is an extraordinary artist.  This series is worth picking up for the art alone.  Luckily the story is excellent as well.  The colors look amazing as well.  The use of light and the fact that it looks like it glows is a remarkable feat by colorist Jason Wright.

Comic Book Review: The Flash #49 - DC Comics (2016)

"New Blood"

The Rogues are on the police task force to bring in the Flash.  Forensic specialist Barry Allen is also on the task force and must analyze the blood of the Flash.  The Trickster, a newcomer to the Rogues, appears to have more going on than just helping his fellow teammates.  Wally West is in school but he is dealing with some physical changes that he can't quite explain.

The Flash being hunted by the police has become a better story line than I had originally imagined.  Seeing Barry wrestle with right and wrong and how he should handle being on a task force to hunt himself is fantastic story telling by Robert Venditti and  Van Jensen.

Philippe Briones is in charge of the art for this issue and does well.  I don't know if he is the long term artist as last month was someone else and this is all after the super group of Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund and Andrew Dalhouse have moved on to other projects.

The Flash is definitely one of the comic books I look forward to each month.  The writers are crafting such excellent stories and it's a lot of fun with each issue.  I'm sure there has to be something big planned for the next issue as that is number fifty!

Comic Book Review: The Flash #48 - DC Comics (2016)

"Public Enemy"

Even after Zoom has been put into Iron Heights Prison, the Flash is still a wanted man.  Barry Allen has been chose by Captain Frye to be part of a task force to take down the Flash.  Barry is in for a huge surprise when he finds out who is on the team.

There is a reason I buy the Flash every month and issue number 48 shows why.  Robert Venditti and Van Jensen have put the Scarlet Speedster in some incredibly impossible situations.  At all times, you know the Flash is the hero even if so many others have given up on him.  Incorporating his biggest foes and making them the heroes has made for awesome story telling.

Issue number 48 marks the beginning of Jesus Merino on art for the Flash.  I have not heard if he is the full time replacement for the series or not, but he does add an element of fun to the book.

Comic Book Review: The Flash #47 - DC Comic (2016)

"Reunion"

The Flash continues his battle with Professor Zoom.

Get ready for a wild ride through time as we see the Flash fight Professor Zoom.  Zoom attempts to use Barry's father against him and monologues through the entire fight explaining his obsession with the Scarlet Speedster.  There are flashbacks to the killing of Barry Allen's mother Nora and there are also glimpses into the future illustrating why Zoom feels the way he does about the Flash.

This is a true all star team of talent working on this series.  Robert Venditti and Van Jensen are awesome with their story telling.  There wasn't a dull moment with this issue.  The team of Breet Booth on pencils, Norma Rapmund on inks and Andrew Dalhouse providing the colors make every page feel cover-worthy.  Every panel looks amazing in the Flash #48 and with every book they've worked on since coming to this series.  I'm sad to say that they are leaving this title but I will be picking up whichever book this group goes to(hopefully they continue working together).

Comic Book Review: The Flash #46 - DC Comics (2015)

Central City police want to arrest the Flash for the bombing of the police station but the Scarlett Speedster knows he can't take the time to talk with them as he knows he needs to stop Professor Zoom and his group of villains.

Fast and incredible action can be found on every page of this comic book issue.  Zoom has been trying to build the Flash as a threat to Central City so that if he does beat our hero, he isn't revered in his death.  This is no easy task and really isn't something he can push any longer as the fight is on.  Zoom has his super-powered villain group that is assisting, outside of Magali who he has since imprisoned along with Henry Allen, the Flash's father.  Henry was brought on to build a device that steals meta-human powers.  If he built a device that could steal the Flash's powers, Professor Zoom would let Barry Allen live.  Little does Henry know who the Flash truly is.

Caught up yet?  I know, there's a lot going on in this issue.  This has been a fun story line.  Professor Zoom is such an interesting character as everyone thinks he's a speedster but he's really controlling time.  It's going to be interesting to see how the Flash is going to do against Zoom.  Also, what will Zoom do after what happened to his villainous group?

I'm of the understanding that the art portion of the Flash team will be leaving the title soon.  That's unfortunate as I feel this is one of the best teams around.  I'm not overly fond of the tweaks made to the Flash's costume, but everything else is amazing.  The flow of each page, detail in the right places and I don't know where you'll find colors used much better.  Wherever Booth, Rapmund and Dalhouse go, I'm sure I'll be hopping onto that title as well.  If what I've heard is true, seeing this team working on underwater adventures could be some of the most incredible visuals of 2016.

As far as the writing team, I have no news as to whether staying or going.  Again, I can see myself checking out whatever Venditti and Jensen write.  It has been an extraordinary pleasure to read from this super team of writers and artists.
