Legends of Tomorrow Review: Season 1 Episode 8 "Night of The Hawk"

Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 8
“Night of The Hawk”

Synopsis:
The team tracks Savage to a small town in Oregon during the 1950s. Upon arrival, they discover there have been a recent string of murders and they suspect Savage is involved. Professor Stein and Sara go undercover at a psychiatric hospital, where Savage is working as a doctor, to find out his plan. While there, Sara meets a nurse named Lindsay and sparks fly. Meanwhile, Ray and Kendra pretend to be a married couple to gain the neighborhood's trust, but an interracial couple in the '50s isn't something that goes unnoticed. Soon, Savage is at their door.

Review:
The team travels back to 1958 where the trail for Savage leads. Team splits up to investigate missing people which they believe is the result of Savage. While pretending to be a married couple Ray and Kendra learn their neighbor is Savage, and Sara and Stein learn that he has a restrictive wing in a mental hospital.

The team learns fast that Savage has been performing experiments on trying to create himself a army of Hawk People. With Jax being captured by the local Sherif and has the same experiments done to him its up to Stein to find a cure.

Final Thoughts:
With the setting being 1958, Legends of Tomorrow didn’t shy away from the issue of the time. Obviously touching on the issues with Bi Racial couples and racism. For a comic book show this was done in a way that showed the ridiculousness of the time but without taking away from the main purpose of the show.

Another amazing performance from Stein, stealing every scene he was in and at the same time bring Sara to another level. We also got a little blow back from the ending of the last episode as Jax’s takes issue with Snart removing Rory from the team. This was an issue through out the episode only to have Snart being the hero and saving Jax.

By far the most interesting part of the show has to be the ending with the team being split apart due to Chronos jumping on board the Waverunner and time jumping. Where does this leave the team and how will they come back together?

This would have been a great Halloween Episode, just my own opinion. I give this episode Two Thumbs Up. Let us know what your thoughts of the episode are and leave your comments below.

The Flash Review: Season 2 Episode 8 "Legends Of Today"

The Flash Season 2 Episode 8
“Legends Of Today”

Synopsis:
In its second major crossover event with “Arrow,” Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), they turn to Barry (Grant Gustin) for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.

Review:
Finally its here the crossover episode with Arrow. We are introduced to Vandal Savage when he was captured as a stow away on a ship which arrived on the docks of Central City. Right from the start we see that he has powers in the same way as Damien Dark. While on a date Cisco and Kendra Saunders are attacked by Savage. Flash was able to get there to save the day and decides the best course of actions is to reach out to there friends in Star City for more assistance.

When we are introduced to Green Arrow and team, they are facing off with Damien Darhk and his Ghost Army. Flash shows up to save the day. While the team is trying to keep Kendra safe we are finally introduced to Hawkman who fly’s off with Kendra. Both he and Kendra are supposedly soul mates who continue to be reincarnated when they die, each time they have died it was due to Savage. He is haunting them down within each reincarnation due to the powers he receives from killing them both.

Also through the episode we learn that Harrison Wells has a formula that may help increase the speed of Barry. Wells needs Caitlin’s help in order to get the formula to work. The formal is ultimately tested on Jay Garrick in order to save the life of Wells after Patty shot him after following Wells back to Star Labs.

Final Thoughts:
There was so much in the episode it was Awesome. Malcolm shows up to offer his advice on Savage. Here is to hoping that he will be part of the Arrow half of the crossover. Cisco gets the honor of naming Hawkgirl. Did anyone else love when Hawkman called Oliver Robin Hood? I am interested to see how the second half will play out not only do we know this is ultimately the tie into Legends of Tomorrow, but I am intrigued to see how the ending of the Flash will play out. Oliver sees the former girlfriend who had his kid he never knew about. We had a record 4 episode without getting Berlanti-ed but that came to an end when Kendra was told about The Flash’s secreted identity, I am guessing this will happen again with Patty as there will be some explaining to why Harrison Well is still alive.

This was another great episode and I am loving the crossovers. This DC Television Universe is by far the best and in my opinion is more enjoyable than what we get with Marvel. I also loved how many characters were shown in this episode.

I give this an ecstatic Two Thumbs Up. Please let us know what your thoughts on the episode are, leave your comments below.

The Flash Review: Season 2 Episode 7 "Gorilla Warfare"

The Flash Season 2 Episode 7
“Gorilla Warfare”

Synopsis:
Grodd returns to Central City and kidnaps Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Barry (Grant Gustin) and team race to find her before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) plans his first date with the new barista at Jitters, Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée) and Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) begins to suspect Barry is hiding something from her.

Review:
Episode 7 starts with Barry learning how to walk after Zoom breaks his back. The effects from Zoom took a mental toll which played out through the show. Barry was questioning his ability to save the city and what everyone thought of their hero. In order to help get Barry back to being the Flash, Iris decided to bring Barry’s Dad Harry back to town. Its always nice to have Harry back on the show. While Barry is recovering we have Harrison Wells trying to go back to Earth-2 only to have Caitlin appose that decision wanting Wells to stay and help the Team defeat Zoom.

The main advisory for this episode is Grodd, he is back and wanting to create more gorilla’s like himself. In order to do this Grodd kidnaps Caitlen in order to help replicate the explosion which created him. Due to Barry still being hesitant to put the Flash suit back on, the team decides the best way to get Caitlin back is to have Wells wear the reverse flash suit to make Grodd believe his father is back. While the plan succeeds the team still has to find a way to deal with Grodd. Harrison Wells come up with the plan to send Grodd to Earth-2, as they have a place which was made to send Gorilla’s with Grodds powers so they can be together. The only way for this to work is for Barry to become Flash once again and with the encouragement from his father. Barry is able to send Grodd through one of the rips between the earths. (Did anyone get a Planet of the Apes vibe from Earth-2 preserve?)

Final thoughts on Episode 7, the writers for Flash always do a fantastic job of never drawing story’s out past what is necessary. This is definitely the case for this episode. They dealt with Barry’s inability to walk and his fear all in this show and it never felt rushed. Also love that Cisco had a date with Kendr Saunders, and when they touched Cisco vibed on her getting an image of what at first looked like Hawkman. Later, at the end of the episode when he vibes again he see that its not a man with wings but Kendra. Its our first look at Hawkgirl. Tell me your not even more excited for the Cross over episodes of Arrow and Flash? or for that matter the new series legends of tomorrow? Also at the end of this episode, Joe West tells Iris how he sometimes gets jealous of Barry and his dad and wishes he  had a son. How soon until we meet Wally West? Will he have the speed force?

Seeing Harrison Wells in the reverse flash suite was Awesome, love being able to revisit that character and absolutely got that creep factor when Wells repeated the line from season one about Cisco being like a son. We all know this isn’t that last time we will see Grodd again, only will the next time be on Earth-1 or Earth-2? and how many more Grodds will we be introduce to when we are reintroduced again.

It was nice not to have another Berlanti moment in this episode, surprisingly that is two DC shows in a row which no one learned a secret identified. Pretty sure this is a record of some kind. I am only waiting until Barry tells Patty his secret. It seems like they are leading to this happening sooner rather than later.

This was a very solid Episode, its hard to follow up to what may be the best episode of the series. But the creative team continues with solid story’s keeping the show fun to watch each week. I give this episode Two Thumbs Up
