Arrow Review: Season 4 Episode 8 "Legends of Yesterday"

Arrow Season 4 Episode 8
“Legends Of Yesterday”

Synopsis:
Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) take Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée) and Carter Hall (guest star Falk Henstchel) to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm (John Barrowman) arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), Thea (Willa Holland), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.

Review:
Finally the second half of the Arrow/The Flash crossover event. The episode starts with a flash back on both Hawkgirl and Hawkman. meanwhile in present time the team has found a secluded place to hold up while they try to come up with a way to neutralize the staff of Vandal Savage. Oliver and Barry get the terms Savage sets when Malcolm sets up a meeting between the four of them. On the way to the meeting Barry sees the ghost of his future self.

A distracted Oliver with Barry and both Kendra and Carter head to the meeting, everything goes wrong resulting in the deaths of everyone except for Barry. This is when we get the time jump when Barry is running away from the explosion that is set off from the staff of savage.

So starts round 2 with Savage, this time Barry lets Oliver know about the time travel and allowing both teams to get a plan together to defeat Savage. After Savage is left in ashes on the floor, we see Malcolm praying over the ashes as he is scooping them up into the a jar.

Final Thoughts:
This paired with the episode of The Flash is a great jumping point into Legends of Tomorrow. I am excited to see more of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. This episode finally explores more into the Oliver’s past. We learn he definitely has a Son, we also know that the mother of William doesn’t want anyone in Oliver’s life to know about the child. Oh how the Drama and Secrets which Oliver has create so many side drama which usually is left for mid day soap opera’s. The only part about this which I don’t enjoy is the drama this creates within the team. I like the dynamic which we currently have and not sure how I feel with the Idea of more drama being entered. I was really hoping this season would be the one that didn’t create so many issues. However; with that being said there are so many more choices now to add to the grave possibility we saw in that first episode.

We know Savage returns in the Legends of Tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what Malcolm has in store to bring back Savage and how this helps Malcolm who has become the ultimate opportunist.

Loved that time travel played a part in this episode and loved the Harrison Wells quote tie in with “Run Barry Run” from Oliver, also how is Cisco the best part again? so many characters to choose from to highlight but its Cisco that has become the go to supporting character. Love the Crystal Skulls reference.

Every episode this season has been on point, much improved and more enjoyable. Surprisingly this may be the best season yet of Arrow. I give tonights episode Two Thumbs Up.

The Flash Review: Season 2 Episode 8 "Legends Of Today"

The Flash Season 2 Episode 8
“Legends Of Today”

Synopsis:
In its second major crossover event with “Arrow,” Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), they turn to Barry (Grant Gustin) for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.

Review:
Finally its here the crossover episode with Arrow. We are introduced to Vandal Savage when he was captured as a stow away on a ship which arrived on the docks of Central City. Right from the start we see that he has powers in the same way as Damien Dark. While on a date Cisco and Kendra Saunders are attacked by Savage. Flash was able to get there to save the day and decides the best course of actions is to reach out to there friends in Star City for more assistance.

When we are introduced to Green Arrow and team, they are facing off with Damien Darhk and his Ghost Army. Flash shows up to save the day. While the team is trying to keep Kendra safe we are finally introduced to Hawkman who fly’s off with Kendra. Both he and Kendra are supposedly soul mates who continue to be reincarnated when they die, each time they have died it was due to Savage. He is haunting them down within each reincarnation due to the powers he receives from killing them both.

Also through the episode we learn that Harrison Wells has a formula that may help increase the speed of Barry. Wells needs Caitlin’s help in order to get the formula to work. The formal is ultimately tested on Jay Garrick in order to save the life of Wells after Patty shot him after following Wells back to Star Labs.

Final Thoughts:
There was so much in the episode it was Awesome. Malcolm shows up to offer his advice on Savage. Here is to hoping that he will be part of the Arrow half of the crossover. Cisco gets the honor of naming Hawkgirl. Did anyone else love when Hawkman called Oliver Robin Hood? I am interested to see how the second half will play out not only do we know this is ultimately the tie into Legends of Tomorrow, but I am intrigued to see how the ending of the Flash will play out. Oliver sees the former girlfriend who had his kid he never knew about. We had a record 4 episode without getting Berlanti-ed but that came to an end when Kendra was told about The Flash’s secreted identity, I am guessing this will happen again with Patty as there will be some explaining to why Harrison Well is still alive.

This was another great episode and I am loving the crossovers. This DC Television Universe is by far the best and in my opinion is more enjoyable than what we get with Marvel. I also loved how many characters were shown in this episode.

I give this an ecstatic Two Thumbs Up. Please let us know what your thoughts on the episode are, leave your comments below.
